Wonderful Garrison turned 17 today! Can you believe it? Happy birthday, Son.
Here are a few photos from a few days ago. The tomatoes are doing well. They’re about two feet tall. Corn is starting to come in. Tiny little carrots are also coming up. I don’t expect them to last with free range bunnies, but the seeds were free. It only looks like a couple of corn stalks in the photo, but many more emerged after the photo was taken.

The Strawberries continue to be plaqued by slugs and rabbits, which eat the leaves, and mockingbirds who take out the berries as soon as they’re ripe. John even spotted a pair of them holding their wings out at 45 degree angles from their bodies and running past each other on our patio after a delicious berry feast. A new mockingbird couple? They feasted and then they danced.

And here’s a blurry photo of snowpeas. They were doing great and I was marveling at how they escaped the notice of predators when the rabbits developed a taste for them.

Both the strawberries and snowpeas are now under cages. The tops of two small animal cages were cut off for this purpose. Photos of that later.
Also planted are eggplants (Darn it! Now I know that rabbits like eggplant too.), oregano (the seeds I planted didn’t sprout), thyme, and a potato. Seeds of the following also went into the ground: morning glorys, spearmint, catnip, more oregano, basil (tiny little basil plants are coming up but it sure grows slowly) and more cosmos.
